During the holiday season, we often find ourselves feeling inclined to spend money on ourselves, friends, and loved ones. If you’re anything like me, you likely haven’t been saving up in anticipation for the expensive holiday season and may be interested in finding ways to save money while making everyone happy. The good news is that you can save a decent amount of pocket change this upcoming winter holiday season by simply being aware of a few things.
Out With the Old, In With the new
Believe it or not, near the end of the year, many brick-and-mortar stores are looking to get rid of last year’s items and are interested in pushing the new “latest and greatest” items. Whether it be an electronic store, clothing store, or a department store, companies are interested in pushing out the old products and showcasing the new ones. One of the most effective ways to do this is to put the old items on sale. Realistically, it’s a win-win situation; they get their old products out the door while saving you some cash. This is a great opportunity for yourself to save some cash.
Pre-Holiday Online Deals
When I was a child, online sales only existed on Cyber Monday. Nowadays people are pushing holiday sales months in advance. If you’re looking so same some extra money, you may want to consider checking an online store daily a few months in advance. Chances are, the online store will follow the trend of holiday sales and you’ll find yourself spending less. As it becomes increasingly difficult to gain a competitive advantage over their competitors, online stores are pushing the envelope as to when holiday sales and promotions begin. Additionally, often times you’ll find that shipping is free or close to it.
Buy Used This Season
An idea that might sound a little more unorthodox this season is to shop for used items (in good-standing condition, obviously). Shopping at second-hand stores allows you to save a considerable amount of money while giving people the gifts that they want this holiday season. Additionally, you can shop online and get the same great prices (and often times, free shipping!). The great thing about shopping used online is that stores typically have great return policies that protect you as the consumer. More specifically, eBay, the second-hand marketplace of the internet, has revised and updated their consumer purchasing policy over the past decade and its very effective and consumer-focused.
With the three above-mentioned ideas executed, you can find yourself saving a large chunk of change this holiday season while making everyone happy. Talk about a win-win scenario!
